Recently, College of International Studies, NUDT, held its first “World Cultures Day & Students’ Festival” under the theme “Transcultural Perspectives, Multilingual Connections”. The event brought together faculty, student representatives and volunteers from six Nanjing-based universities’ foreign language institutes to create a vibrant youth carnival transcending borders and fostering cultural exchange.

At the International Culture Expo, 33 vibrantly decorated booths presented 32 distinct regional civilizations. Visitors could appreciate French impressionist paintings, admire exquisite German craftsmanship, interact with intricate African tribal wood carvings, and try on Central Asian nomadic costumes, embarking on a sensory journey across four continents.

The Chinese Culture Zone featured interactive heritage displays including archery demonstrations, touhu or pitch-pot (a traditional Chinese game played during feast), as well as lacquer fan painting and calligraphy workshops. Crowds flocked to experience traditional Chinese medicine consultations, dragon dance performances, and traditional Hanfu clothing.

Meanwhile, a grand cultural gala lit up the auditorium, with meticulously choreographed performances by universities blending artistic forms to highlight multicultural vibrancy.

The event brimmed with energy as attendees immersed themselves in language learning, cultural exchanges, culinary delights, and hands-on experiences, embracing the beauty of world cultures.
