NUDT wins 4 Gold Medals and 15 Silver Medals in the University Physics Competition

According to the results of the 15th University Physics Competition announced recently, NUDT teams captured 4 Gold Medals and 15 Silver Medals, with number of gold medals hitting our record high and getting the top of all the competing universities. This is NUDT’s 8th consecutive time to win Gold Medals in the competition. The teams are supervised by College Physics Teaching Team of College of Science.



The University Physics Competition is an international contest for undergraduate students. This year, 681 teams from all over the world gathered to compete around two Problems: “Problem A - Space Station Air Evacuation Time” and “Problem B - Mars Electrical Power”. Finally, 15 teams are ranked as Gold Medals (2.2%), 118 are ranked as Silver Medals (17%) and 201 are ranked as Bronze Medals.


The NUDT teams’ achievements are inextricably linked to the reforms to strengthen top-notch innovative talents cultivation. In recent years, the course, College Physics, attaches more importance to ability-oriented process assessment. Centering on project-based practice, it has implemented innovative measures like cross-curricular practice, interim summaries and specialized training to cultivate students’ innovation ability and sense of innovation, which provides a solid support for this year’s competition achievement. At the same time, the competition supervisor team also has got scaled up.
