Call for Papers
The 3rd International Seminar on Strategy of National Security and Development of Science & Technology
（The 3rd ISST）
Since 21st century，space and cyberspace have become new frontiers of strategic studies. Nowadays，international terrorism has brought severe challenges to national security，and globalization as well as its derived security issues has become increasingly complex and implicative of each other. National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) will hold the 3rd International Seminar on Strategy of National Security and Development of Science & Technology (a brief introduction to former ISSTs attached) on 17-18 June, 2013 in Changsha China, to celebrate NUDT’s 60th birthday anniversary. The seminar will last for one day and a half, and the theme of the 3rd ISST is “Space and Cyberspace Security: Cross Domain Operation and International Cooperation”, topics may include but are not limited to:
Ø New Challenges to National and International Security
Ø Space and Cyberspace Security Dilemma
Ø Space and Cyberspace Arms Control
Ø Space and Cyberspace Assets Protection
Ø Cyber Conflict Escalation and De-escalation
Ø Space and Cyberspace Strategic Resource Exploration and Utilization
Activities of this seminar will mainly include: opening ceremony, keynote speeches, session discussions, roundtable discussions, campus visit (Tianhe super computer, Robots show, etc.) and hometown visit of former Chairman Mao Zedong. There are academic scholars and pundits from prestigious think tanks, universities and industries coming from home and abroad to the last two ISSTs. With their interests and supports, we have strong confidence to turn serial ISSTs into excellent platforms for ideas exchange on security and strategic studies in the perspective of technology development.
Now we are calling for papers from the public. Papers written in English and Chinese are both welcomed (paper in English will gain the priority during the selecting process). Please make sure that the paper is of a suitable length (Chinese papers should include 6000-10000 words，while English papers 5000-8000 words) All full papers will be reviewed by members of the conference academic committee and other peer experts to ensure an adequate standard. We will select some excellent award papers and publish a symposium in Chinese as well as in English after the seminar.
For the number of experts having shown interests around the world is far more than that of the former 2 ISST, those who intend to join the seminar please send us a pre-registration form, the information include title of the paper and an abstract of 300-500 words before February 28, 2013. The deadline to submit your full paper will be no later than March 31, 2013. Papers should be submitted as *.doc attachments by email to the seminar Coordinator, Ms Wendy Wang.
During the seminar, free-charged accommodation will be provided to the participators whose papers are enrolled; registration fee and accommodation expense will be exempted to participants whose papers are selected as excellent papers. Those who haven’t submitted papers are welcomed at their own expense.
Registration fee will be RMB1000 Yuan per person. Those who register before April 30, 2013 will get 50% discount.
