The department is mainly responsible for research on modern communication networks, communication code, network security, anti-interference communication, and communication system simulation. There are six professors, four Ph.D. supervisors, two IEEE COMSOC fellows, and six senior members of IEEE COMSOC and CIE.
The department is responsible for the education of communication undergraduates, master and Ph.D. candidates, in-post master degree applicants and continuing education, covering many discipline fields such as: Wireless Communication Technology, Communication Signal Processing and Communication Networks, Communication Networks and Systems, Modern Communication System Design, Wireless Communication and Networks, and Information Security and Confrontation of Communication Networks. The department has published over ten monographs and textbooks, and developed the specialized laboratory of communication engineering.
The department has won over 30 national and ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievements, as well as graduated 42 Ph.D. candidates and over 200 master candidates. The department has produced two winners of Hunan Province Excellent Doctoral Dissertations, two Hunan Province Excellent Master’s Theses, and many winners of the Kuang-Hua Scholarship. The department has published many theses in the international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communication, and hundreds of papers in important national journals and at international and national academic conferences.
