Post-doctoral Research Station of Optical Engineering

The station, mainly based on the national key discipline of optical engineering, consists of such research areas as laser gyro technology, strong laser technology, high-power microwaves, and fiber optic sensors. The area of laser gyro technology mainly focuses on the basic theory, technology, and experimental test of optical gyroscope and undertakes major engineering model development projects. The area of strong laser technology mainly focuses on laser damage mechanism and aero-optics and undertakes pre-research for some national defense projects. The area of high-power microwaves mainly focuses on the basic theory and key technology of high-power microwaves and undertakes “863 Key Projects”. The area of fiber optic sensors mainly focuses on fiber optic gyroscopes and fiber-optic hydrophones. The discipline ranked No. 4 in the national evaluation of first-category disciplines in 2006. The station currently has two Chinese Academy of Engineering academics, 15 PhD supervisors, the National 863 High-Tech Key Laboratory of Optical Gyro, and Specialized Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Technology in military academies, NUDT Key Laboratory of Laser Technology, and the two research centers of photon confrontation and high-power microwaves.
