This station, mainly based on the first-category discipline of the aeronautical and astronautical science and technology, consists of four second-category disciplines:
aeronautical and astronautical propulsion theory and engineering, (a national key discipline), aircraft Design, man-machine and environmental engineering and aeronautical and astronautical Manufacturing Engineering.
The Main research areas of the four second-categories include aircraft overall design and analysis, hypersonic propulsion technology, aircraft dynamics, smart bullet and ammunition technology, guidance and control, aircraft test analysis and measurement control technology, aircraft structural dynamics and vibration control, astronautical system analysis and countermeasure technology, small satellite technology, advanced rocket propulsion technology and engineering, rocket engine combustion theory and combustion diagnostic technology, propulsion system dynamics, control and health monitoring technology, new concept propulsion theory and system analysis, solid rocket and stamping motor technology, and precise measurement and motion measurement technology based on images. The station currently has one academician of the International Aerospace Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, and 33 PhD supervisors.
Currently the station has developed an internationally advanced hypersonic propulsion research environment, including an advanced space propulsion system experimental platform, test bay for small and middle sized liquid rocket engine, solid rocket engine, solid stamping engine, and rocket engine plume laser spectroscopy testing and diagnosis system. The station has also developed a spacecraft multidisciplinary optimization design platform, satellite application and autonomous navigation technology experiment environment, satellite flight and control simulation platform, smart bullet air-dropped experimental platform, precision optical measurement image processing system, aerospace system simulation, and a space attack/defense technology experimental environment.
